Product Description

The B25 Mitchell is an American twinengined medium bomber that was named after General Billy Mitchell, who was an early air power pioneer, and is the only American military aircraft to be named after a specific person. The B25 was used against German and Japanese targets in every combat theater of World War II. B25s were used in the famous Doolittle Raid in April 1942, in which 16 B25Bs were launched from the USS Hornet and successfully bombed Tokyo and other Japanese cities. The B25J was the final version of the B25 Mitchell. The solidnose B25J variant carried an impressive total of eighteen .50 caliber guns eight in the nose, four in undercockpit packages, two in the waist compartment, two in an upper turret, and a two in the tail. No other World War II bomber carried as many guns! This U.S. B25J Mitchell is part of Forces Of Valors Enthusiast Edition series, which is the extremely detailed version of this aircraft. The 172 scale die cast metal aircraft is approximately 9 inches long and has a wingspan of approximately 12 inches.

Forces Of Valor 1:72nd Scale Plane U.S. B-25J Mitchell - Philipines 1945 Review

This is a great, heavy diecast metal model bomber, that has the look of the old WWII bombers we love. The details are great! The bomb bay doors open to reveal bombs inside, the props turn, the wheels turn on the landing gear, the model comes with a clear plastic stand you can either use or not (some folks like to hang these from the ceiling with monofilament). The model comes with optional wheels down or wheels up so that you can snap in the change should you decide you desire wheels up mode. The aircraft markings are great and look painted rather than decal like. The model colors are spot on to my eye. The cockpit is clear plastic as shown in the photo and you can see the pilot and co-pilot inside the cockpit. This is a larger model and looks and feels nice and heavy in the hand, and in my view is not a "toy" but a model for the serious student of WWII weapons. Highly recommened.
