Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Sodor Scrub & Shine

Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Sodor Scrub and Shine Review

Take the concept of the Sodor Engine Wash (two pressure yielding, rubber washing posts that you guide the train through with a knob) and add lights, faux water, a spinning wheel, and much more color, and you have the Sodor Scrub and Shine. It's a very solid piece, considering it has lots of plastic. When you guide the train through with the knob, it begins to make one sound, then as the train passes through, another sound, and then a drying sound when the train hits the end of the line. You then press the button to pop the train up back onto the track.

On one connector piece end, you have to lift the Scrub and Shine up and place it onto this small piece of track, which contrasts with the normal ease of connecting Thomas track. Little ones may get frustrated having to pick this big thing up all the time to connect it.

One other note is that if you leave the tester/store display strip sticking out of the bottom, it remains in store test mode. This means that when you press the button that normally releases the train when it is at the end of it's wash, you hear the entire wash sounds go through their sequence. When you pull it out, you have to make the train go through to hear every sound, and the button only releases the train now. I am almost sorry I pulled it out, as it seemed more fun to my son when he just pressed the button once to hear everything without having to make the train go through!

It's a fun piece, but I can't give it 5 stars due to it's heavy use of plastic, and the fact you have to place it on top of one of it's connecting tracks. It's still solid with the plastic, but it just doesn't have that classic Thomas wooden look.

Transformers MP-M01 Starscream Movie Edition Masterpiece Review

Wow!

If you collect Transformers this figure is fantastic!

THE best movie Starscream to date. On par with Takara's ROTF Buster Optimus Prime! Do a search and you'll see...

Very well designed and expertly painted details.

Large robot mode with lots of jointed parts.

Large jet mode with an intricate conversion. Very fun!

There are lights and sounds for playablity, but this expensive import is probably for older fans of the Transformers...

There is a Hasbro version with Black tattoos that is much cheaper for the kids.

VF Hi-Metal 1/100 VF-1S Roy Focker Custom Review

This is coming from a new owner of Bandai's 1/55 anniversary chunky model, toynami's 1/100 and masterpiece Roy Fokker as well as Yamato's 1/60 ver.1 (loving the cracked shoulder's btw). This is by far the most substantiated money spent for an elegantly designed Macross toy that won't break your bank and wont "break" for doing what it was advertised to do; transform. It's actually a lot more detailed than BOTH masterpiece and Yamato's out of the box with plenty of pieces to customize and incredibly solid in all modes that will make you wonder how toynami's 1/100 flaky "fall apart at the joints" line ever got green lit. Bottom line: even though it's a much smaller scale than the 1/55's or 1/60's, it's just as detailed if not more with the super strike parts without the many flaws of easy breakage with the larger more expensive models. Really dig this

2.4Ghz 4-Channel Radio Remote Control Electric Phoenix1600 Air Glider R/C Airplane RTF w/Brushless Set up + EPO Durability Review

So, apparently this glider is not very common, the phoenix 2000 and the 16/2.6 convertible phoenix however is much more common, just look at them on youtube, and this glider is pretty identical to it, as far as i can tell.. Assembly is quite easy, but there are no instructions. The manual glosses over many things but you just have to think logically and be prepared to improvise. I didn't have any experience with RC planes and i managed to build it.

The fuselage is from a sturdy and well-manufactured nylon plastic mold (i think radians have epo bodies, right??), and the wings are EPO (light, foam, do not step on it or bump it, i bumped the tail and almost broke off the rudder before i even flew it). There are rods to strengthen the wings and tail fins. The servos, receiver, ESC, and motor are pre-installed, as well as the pushrods to the tail. you just have to mount all the little plastic platforms for the servos and put the tail + wings together, then connect the aileron servos with a Y connector and plug in to the receiver (which is velcro'd on to the fuselage, mine came off already before i even hooked it up. The radio feels cheap, but it is 2.4ghz/600m. it has the short plastic antenna but does the job. The battery is a three-cell lipo, that you might want to replace for a better one. There is only a wall charger, no car charger. The CG is detailed on the wings and in the manual.

issues: one servo was defective. i opened it and the cogs inside were broken. I asked for a replacement which i have yet to receive. The battery was also off-balance but i managed to get it fixed, but this ended in a reduced capacity of the battery.

When i took it to the field, the CG was way off, and the glider was very pitch-unstable in flight. I flew it three times, the last one ending in a crash; a nosedive at full power into the ground. The fuselage was bent in front and the nosecone was damaged. the battery and CG-balance weight was thrown from the plane, the wings were crooked. But all in all, with some patchwork, nothing was really broken and so I had it back in the air after some de-bending and reinforcement of the wings. So all in all, it's pretty crash proof (this was the worst possible type of crash, it turned inverted then i tried to level is by using up-elevator which nosed it right down into the ground). This price i think is unbeatable for a RTF 4 channel Glider with 2,4ghz, brushless motor, and LiPo battery.
