80-LED Lighting-Direction-Variable Microscope Ring Illuminator Review
The inverter emits a signal (60Hz?) that causes waviness on the computer display whether the camera on the microscope is a DSLR or a CCD. The final image is unaffected. A DC voltage surge when the unit is first turned on causes the LED's to be very bright for a brief instant before going to their proper brightness level. That probably won't hurt anything. Given its Chinese origins, I'm going to open the control box and look for dangerous wiring issues. (I bought a brand-name Chinese-made surge protector once in which the ground wire was stripped and tinned, but simply hanging loose in the unit. It could have contacted either the hot or cold conductor. And, of course, equipment plugged in was ungrounded. It was too flimsy to be worth fixing, so I trashed it.)Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "80-LED Lighting-Direction-Variable Microscope Ring Illuminator" are high quality item.
