This product is the worst quality I've seen in any product bought from or through Amazon. If I saw this for $10.00 at a swap meet, I would think it was overpriced. Not only was the product dissappointing, the seller's response was worse.

My mother bought this drum for my 10-year-old son for his birthday. When it arrived and we opened it, I couldn't help but laugh. The drum itself (the blue portion) was amateurish in manufacture (like it was made in someone's garage) but was the best part of the product. The stand is a handful of PVC irrigation pipes with the pipe specs still printed on them. The drum attaches to the PVC using two paper clips that the seller apparently bent by hand to accommodate his imaginative use of office supplies. The mallets look like the seller bought a 50 cent dowel at Home Depot, cut it to size and then wrapped the ends with rubber bands. I think that is literally what he did.

The product was barely wrapped -- just jammed in the box loose with a little packing paper. One of the mallets was broken.

Within minutes of opening it, I called my mother to have her start the return process. The seller sent her detailed instructions on how to carefully repack the item -- again a laugh because they instructed us to wrap it far better than it was when we received it. We took care to wrap it carefully -- and individually wrapped the pieces of the broken mallet so they would know it didn't break in return shipping.

To the seller's credit, they acted quickly upon receipt -- which is the one positive in the whole experience. Unfortunately their response was a complaint that the product was damaged (including complaining about the broken mallet). So the seller decided to refund $40 out of the $99.95 total purchase price -- meaning they made $59.95 (plus charged for shipping) on a product that, in perfect condition, would be worth a few dollars at a flea market.

We have raised this with Amazon and, while they have responded quickly, they have not secured any better refund from the seller. I think this is a case of a seller thinking he's being responsive by issuing a $40 refund but not realizing that the product is not worth anywhere near the purchase price, that it was shipped damaged and that anything short of a full refund is just bad business. If your brand new toaster doesn't heat and you bring it back to Target, they don't say "we can't take it back because it doesn't work."
