Appleseed EX Machina Briareos [1/10 Scale PVC] Review

First of all, the packaging is very pretty. A transparent box with Briareos suspended in the middle. His rifle is packaged opposite his body, behind his back. His other weapons and interchangeable hands are packaged on the bottom of the box, also in clear molded plastic, each item in its own alcove.

The figure is nice and solid with good weight and has lots of articulation for posing. The details are very very good. The actual figure does not look quite like all the product photos you see because those are prototype photos. The big difference being the paint scheme. His chest armor is more of a gloss black rather than the nice matte grey you see in hte product images. Too bad really - the matte paint is better I think.

The only downside I've experienced out-of-box is that his antennae come off too easily. Granted, popping off is much better than breaking off, but the ball and socket joint employed to attach them to his helmet is a just a little bit too loose. It's nice to be able to rotate them though - so he can show his moods - like a bunny.

The weapon detail is super cool. Good enough to work from if you wanted to build a full scale replica.

Overall, pretty awesome figure. The WAVE 1/10 Deunan is just as good.

...although I'd still like the 4" tall Snap Toys version so that Briareos could at least use Star Wars vehicles and dust it up with the clones.
