I was on heartless before, which at 35mm were a little too slim for me. The 38mm Mayhems are perfect! I am a blocker, and I get great stability and grip with these wheels. I practice on a somewhat slippery concrete floor. The 93a is grippy enough to get good traction on turns, and it's hard enough to let me slide into really great plows and hockey stops. The width is perfect for stability without feeling bulky - I feel comfortable shuffling and making quick lateral movements. My balance is much better than it was on the heartless. I went for the Mayhems over the Beast Modes because of the aluminum hub and the lip. This is my first set of wheels with an aluminum hub, and I like it. Bearings slip right in and out - no fighting with them anymore. The lip is supposed to help you grip the track on turns. I can't say for sure if the lip is the reason for the great grip, or if the Beast Modes are the same. But I have zero complaints, so shelling out a little extra was worth it for me.
