When I was a kid, I received the Ninja MegaFalconzord for Christmas one year. It was amazing. I reacted in ways that would garner many hits on YouTube today. Nintendo64 kid had nothing on me.
My birthday following that, I got the White Tigerzord. It was truly a highlight of my single-digit life.
I didn't get any more Zords after that, but I was fine. Sure, I wanted the Dragonzord and Red Dragon Thunderzord, but I was content with what I had.

Shortly after graduating college, I landed a full-time job. What did I do? I ended up spending money instead of saving it. I won't go too much into that, but let's say that I spent some good dough acquiring nostalgic never-hads. The Thunderzord Assault Team and Red Dragon Thunderzord were part of those acquirements.
Like my other Zords which I didn't have as a kid but have now, the Assault Team and Red Dragon Thunderzord were acquired used. I didn't care. They were in overall good condition, and finding bits and pieces throughout the years to complete the sets was fun, like a treasure hunt.

As I mentioned, back when I was a kid, I wanted the Red Dragon Thunderzord, and wanted such after seeing a kid at summer camp have one. It had way more articulation than the other Zords I had seen. Even then articulation was important to me in a toy (though I certainly didn't know the terms "articulation" or "poseability" at the time). So that's what I got first.

He's just as great as I remember. Easily transforms from Dragon to Warrior, and has lots of great articulation in both modes. After I got him, I had to get the rest.

The rest of the team obviously doesn't have as many appendages, let alone articulation, as they're really more supplements to the Red Dragon. Still, they're necessary to create the Thunder Megazord. Out of the four supplementary beasts, the bird has the most articulation, with two joints in each of the wings. The tail disconnects to form the head of the spear, and the head bobs back and form, mainly for transformation, but it's nice to have.
The unicorn and griffin, which form the feet and leg armor, have only head articulation, the rest being utilized to form the Megazord.
The lion is probably the worst out of them all in terms of movement, as the main body is hollowed out to form the chest piece, and the legs detach to click as the arms and shoulder armor. Its "tail" becomes the Megazord's helmet.

All in all, they're nice, and the only reason you'd want them is to form the Thunder Megazord. Which everyone wants to do, right?
What makes this particular listing "deluxe" is that it has all the Zords you'd need in one convenient box, when the Assault Team and Red Dragon came separately before.

More than likely, you're probably not going to have them displayed separately. The Assault Team does come with a nice little tray that's molded to display them all together, but more than likely a collector will have them lumped together into the Megazord.

Because I acquired my sets used, some fitting had to be forced. For instance, the legs in the Red Dragon Thunderzord didn't click into the feet at first, and I was afraid of pushing too hard lest they break. I don't have the instructions for transformation, but it's no Transformers, mind you, so it isn't exactly difficult to guesstimate how to turn what and what goes where.
The Firebird doesn't wrap neatly around the waist, so it's more likely to fall off. Everything else was fine, however.

The Red Dragon Thunderzord in its warrior mode is about the same size as the original dino Megazord, so this Thunder Megazord stands a lot taller. But, just like the dino Megazord, it has minimal articulation. The only movement you're going to see is in the arms. Still, for the time, kids really wanted the combinability of forming the Thunderzords into one giant fighter.

Overall, it's a nice addition for any 20-something PR fan. Considering it's a straight import from Bandai (JP)'s Dairanger toy, it's well made and has lasted all these years. The little MMPR figures and crystals are neat to display, as well.

The only reason I dock mine one star is the fact that my pieces don't fit perfectly, but if you buy this new, I'm sure you have no reason to worry.
