I can't say enough about these blocks, they are stunning! I decided on buying a set of Grimm's blocks because I've read a lot of great reviews and because they are made in Germany, which means they are safer than any Chinese made toy. The price is a little steep, but I think it's worth the purchase. The blocks are well-made, durable, and come with a square wooden base for building (which is nice if you're building in a room with carpet). After you're done playing, the blocks assemble neatly in the wooden base for storage. One thing I need to mention is that the blocks don't have a clear protective finish, although they are very smooth. My daughter is only a year old and still puts things in her mouth, so I was worried that she might get a splinter, but that hasn't happened.

The style of these blocks is great, and I love the Arabian design. They are definitely not your average, boring building blocks. They are saturated in a wide variety vibrant colors, making them very attractive to small, curious hands. My one year old is just now starting to help me "build" instead of just "destroying", and I know when she gets older she's going to have more and more fun playing with them. 54 pieces is a lot, so there is a wide variety of building possibilities!
